Episode 14: Social Security and Gen Y
On today’s show we complain about the Boomers and Social Security. If Social Security isn’t sustainable, then what happens to our generation? Would we have done the same thing if we were in the same position? Finally, we turn out anger to voters and suggest a few ways to balance the budget. The one that we’re proudest of is the tax revenue generated by legalizing pot. We’re also open to outlawing putting a politician’s name on a building or road unless she or he left office with a balanced budget.
And since we’re not always as scientific as we’d like to be, here’s some more info that we were missing during the show:
- A link to the Peter G Peterson foundation.
- A link to the GAO report on Social Security and sustainability.
- A link to the history of student loan bankruptcies. Apparently in 1976, the law changed so that former students could not discharge their loans during bankruptcy. Can we blame the Boomers for that?
